Port Coquitlam Condos and Homes for Sale
Port Coquitlam is a largely suburban community part of the Lower Mainland’s Tri-Cities, east of Vancouver. Historically an agricultural region, the flat plain in Port Coquitlam was selected by the Canadian Pacific Railway for rail yards at the end of its transcontinental railway. A significant portion of Port Coquitlam has been developed into suburban neighbourhoods, with large areas of parkland providing outdoor recreation opportunities. Housing in Port Coquitlam has primarily detached homes and low-rise apartments.
Port Coquitlam is served by School District 43, which operates two secondary schools, five middle schools, and 14 elementary schools. Five private schools also serve PoCo. The city offers a wide variety of outdoor activities in its parks, including an outdoor gym, skate park, bike skills park, indoor and outdoor swimming facilities, and venues for soccer, baseball, lacrosse, ice hockey, and street hockey. The Traboulay PoCo Trail is a 25km trail for walking and cycling that runs around the city’s perimeter. The Leigh Square, Community Arts Village, offers classes, programs and events throughout the year for both young and old. Major transportation routes to and through PoCo include Loughead Highway, Mary Hill Bypass, and Shaughnessy Street.
